My Journey to Functional Medicine

I began navigating the complexities of conventional medicine at just 11 years old, facing a variety of health challenges. Too often, I felt unheard and frustrated by the limited and dismissive care I received during my teens and 20s, particularly in women’s health. Responses like, “You’ll grow out of it—it’s just growing pains,” “We’re not sure why you have IBS; let’s try an antidepressant,” or “Pain during sex is normal at your age—it should improve,” left me feeling lost. The most disheartening was, “You may struggle to have children, and birth control might be your best option for regulating periods.” These experiences left me feeling hopeless about my health and uncertain about my future.
However, I refused to settle. I took matters into my own hands, diving into research and self-advocacy. This passion drove me to pursue science and medicine, becoming a conventionally trained physician assistant specializing in family and women’s health. Yet, even in practice, I found more questions than answers for my patients, and my own health continued to decline.
Determined to find a better path, I earned a post-graduate certificate in nutrition science, which became the foundation for further studies at The Institute for Functional Medicine. Today, I combine personal experience and professional expertise to help others break free from the limitations of conventional care and find true healing.
Through functional medicine, I’ve discovered insights and solutions that conventional approaches couldn’t provide. As a certified functional medicine practitioner, this journey has unlocked a deeper connection to my mind and body, transforming how I approach healing and wellness. The path isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding. Now, my mission is to guide other women on their unique health journeys, equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their health and find their flow.
